Mission Statement

To follow the teachings and principles of Dr. Maria Montessori and uphold the standards of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).

To prepare an environment that is responsive to the child's needs and tendencies at each stage of development.

To stimulate the child's natural curiosity and to prepare him to become an independent, self-reliant and compassionate human being.

To prepare the children for all aspects of life, intellectually, socially, physically and emotionally by engaging them in the daily rituals of living within a community.

To foster joy and fellowship for all community members, to promote stewardship of the school and to create a partnership with the parents for the benefit of each child.

"Montessori is not an institution, it is an aide to life"

Teachers

One head teacher and one assistant together lead each Young Children's Community, Primary and Elementary classroom. All head teachers have received diplomas at an accredited AMI Montessori teacher training institute.

AMI teacher training is unique in the world. It is accomplished with great care and attention by AMI's dedicated trainers, many of whom have studied with Dr. Montessori or her son and collaborator, Mario Montessori

The Three-Year Cycle

It is in the best interest of children and essential to the program that a three-year commitment is made at both Primary and Elementary levels. Each "cycle" provides the child with the consistency of the same teacher within the same classroom setting. It is central to this process that over a three-year period children have the opportunity to learn from each other and to solidify knowledge through their own teaching and sharing.
